Weekly Parish Bulletin TWELFTH SUNDAY - Year B 21st June 2009
MASS for the SICK: A special welcome at the 11am Mass to those who are sick and/or housebound and to their caregivers, families and friends. The St Vincent de Paul (SVDP) group will be on hand to help anyone who needs assistance. Thanks to our volunteer drivers and all those who helped to organise this event. If you know of a sick or housebound person in the area who would like a visit, please give their information to Sr Cecilia or one of the priests. REFUGEE WEEK: 15th - 21st June. 20th June is the International Refugee Day. Scottish Refugee Council will be holding a programme of cultural events. PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL: Next meeting on Wednesday, 24th June at 7.30pm. Agenda and Minutes of last meeting are available for collection this weekend. ADOPTION & FOSTER CARE: St Andrew’s Children Society are looking for Catholic families who could offer short or long term foster care or adoptive homes to a wide range of children in the Archdiocese and beyond who cannot live with their birth families. Website is - www.standrews-children.org.uk FAIRTRADE STALL: This weekend 20th/21st June. Opportunity to buy a fair-trade treat for Father’s Day! GARDENING SUNDAY: This Sunday, 21st June, afternoon onwards in the grounds of St John Ogilvie’s. Volunteers of all ages welcome. Bring your own tools. Refreshments promised. SUMMER CONCERT: Thursday 25th June starting at 7pm in aid of the youth pilgrimage to Taizé. Adults £3 Children £1.50. The evening will include a tombola and home baking stall. Donations for the tombola stall can be left in the special box in the hall. Home baking donations also welcome. Young people from Leith and Wester Hailes parishes will be performing. An entertaining evening is assured for all! Thank you for your support. THE GOSPEL OF PAUL: An evening of reflection to mark the end of the Year of St Paul for Readers of the Word and Ministers of the Eucharist in 25th June, 7pm-8.30pm at The Gillis Centre, 100 Strathearn Road. Led by Patricia Carroll, Episcopal Delegate for Pastoral Resources in the Archdiocese. NINE DAYS PRAYER in honour of Our Lady of Perpetual Help: 19th - 27th June in St Patrick’s, Cowgate. Services each evening at 7pm. Fr Ed HONE will be moving from St Patrick’s at the end of June. He will be undertaking Doctoral studies at Durham University for the next three years. We thank him for his tremendous work in the Archdiocese, for the ministry that emerged out of St Patrick’s and for his work as Episcopal Vicar for Religious in the diocese. We wish him well in his future ministry. BAPTISM: Next Sunday, Marie Louise will be welcomed into the Family of God at the 11am Mass.
